Why the Hindu narrative is failing abroad, especially the US:
Hindus are generally left/centre-left voters in Western countries. Which means they tend to vote for progressive/liberal governments and policies which include multiculturalism and anti-racist ideologies.
This prevailed since Hindus started migrating to the US and UK, and still is observable, however recently there started since the past 5-6 years, the upstaging of a different rhetoric regarding the Hindu community abroad.
Which rhetoric? The one regarding the colonial caste theories about Brahmanism and Brahminical Patriarchy and the apparent persecution of Muslims in India.
Understand that Hindus abroad, like their Desi counterparts, strongly believed in the colonial pseudo-secular ideologies which the previous governments instilled in the people's minds.
This was a comfortable situation for everyone since it allowed the assertive Muslim representatives and even the neocolonial caste theorists to percolate into the administration abroad and extend their problematic narrative about India and Hindus in particular.
This projection was not met with a resistance earlier since Hindus were passive regarding their identity, greatly because they felt hesitant to assert it because of caste/idolatry/polytheism etc.
However, things changed almost a year prior to 2014 and the new ideology started gaining momentum.
The new Indic Hindu pronouncement was immediately covered by the neocolonial mainstream Indian media as 'Hindu Nationalism'.
Something that was completely contradictory to the truth, as it blatantly distorted facts and narratives to suit a political agenda. This, however, reached the climate abroad.
The same place where the left/centre-left Indian American voter base relies on certain media outlets, active Dalit/Muslim organizations, the statements of erstwhile political leaders, and the pre-existent attitude of the community. All which sung the tune of Hindu Nationalism.
Naturally, since the overwhelming number of people abroad who voted progressive started to condemn this election victory ideology, the administration too had to echo the temperament of the voter base.
The Centre-Left Dems were quick to caution against this "nationalist ideology", since that was how it was portrayed to them.
And this was strongly resonated amongst the non-Hindu Indian American community.
However, the then small faction of pro-Indic Hindus were displeased by this, since they recognized the fallacy in the reportage of Indian socio-politics.
And because they were not religiously assertive from before (since they too followed the erstwhile neocolonial ideologies) this correction wasn't reflected in the government or the social activist groups or even the community organizations.
And when the Hindu representatives started voicing their support for this, it was immediately branded as ethno-religious nationalism.
Why? Since all the minority Indian groups were against it. And the Western world being the hub of White Christian Supremacy, is quite cautious about majoritarianism. And since the Indic narrative was portrayed as the latter, they shunned it outright.
The Progressive Centre-Left's ostracization of the Indic narrative, led to great dissatisfaction within the Hindu American (even British) community.
This dissatisfaction was gauged by the Western Right, which still views the Hindu American community as a model minority and a loyal asset, and hence started to pander to the community for the purpose of the creation of a new voter base.
This was conducted via widespread large-scale appeasement of the Hindus by the Conservatives in both places, Johnson in UK, and Trump in US. Hindus, finally finding a recognition and appreciation, were gratified by this catering
Without realizing that the Western Christian Right is more bigoted than the entire Liberal-Left combined. Mistaking of appeasement as inclusion occurred.
And the support of the Hindus towards the Right increased. However, this only fed fodder to the cannon of already-occurring stigmatization of the Hindu community by the progressive Lib-Left as
they were proven right on how "majoritarian", and "nationalistic" the Hindus are, since they lent their support to the Majoritarian Nationalists of US/UK, the Republican and Conservative respectively.
Not realizing or bothering to understand that this ideological shift occurred on the basis of long-due recognition, and not inherent bigotry. The long-due recognition which the Right provided. Quite superficially, but did.
Plus, the favourable attitude of Indian Hindus regarding Trump, and the Conservative leaning regarding US socio-politics just went on to confirn this fact even further.
The demonization of genuine movements against racially motivated police brutality by the Hindu community was another nail in the coffin regarding the Hindu relationship with the Western Lib-Left. And further solidified the suspicion of Hindus being majoritarian.
So, how can we somehow salvage our identity and rectify the situation?
It has now become imperivative to retain a Progressive Liberal attitude, something which we already harbour regarding Indian socio-politics.
However, that is difficult since the Lib-Left is now overtaken by Islamist sympathizers and neocolonial caste activists. But still, to win this battle of narratives, we need to retain our composure.
By voting Right, we will just end up harming ourselves since the White Christan Supremacists view us as nothing more than a subordinate heathen culture.
Hence, the ideal position is to vote or think Left-leaning Indipendent.
Since by voting or supporting the Left we'll be directly endorsing the Islamists/Caste Theorists to continue their propaganda.
And Left-leaning because it is anti-racist and appropriate for the liberal Hindu narrative which is LGBTQ+ inclusive, pro-Universal Health Care, pro-Affordable Housing, pro-higher taxation for the wealthy, and anti-interventionist regarding Western military foreign policy.
Understand that

Western Left≠ Indian Left.

Since the Left there represents actual positive reforms which our current PM has already implemented. In fact, PM Modi by international standards is actually Left-Wing, because of his progressive policies.
Indian "Right" already is pro-LGBTQ, supportive of progressive taxation, offers affordable housing for the poor, has increased minimum wage rate for workers, improved and subsidized socio-economic infrastructure, provides free healthcare and LPG subsidy.
All these qualify as socialist policies in the West. So we are essentially already Left-Wing, so to say: Indigenous Hindu Left Wing. And the Indian "Left" is actually the colonial Right Wing, protecting religious extremists and corruption-ridden.
