But this former Africa correspondent cannot get over the inequity, and the willful blindness to the plain fact that unless the whole world is vaccinated, no one is safe.

I'm not being all kumbaya here. Each government is responsible to its own people. And every scientist is clear that the virus will continue endlessly swimming around the globe & mutating if vaccination isn't scaled up globally. It's a matter of self interest if nothing else.

It's sort of like a big 50-floor apartment building is uncontrollably burning from top and bottom and the residents of the 19th and 20th floors are throwing furniture at each other over two fire extinguishers.
