/n: Outreach is, by nature, personal. https://twitter.com/religionmag/status/1355168827844210691?s=21 https://twitter.com/kizzyphd/status/1355414359430848513
/n: Let me tell you why this one is personal to me. I was contacted by a frantic Chinese VRC scientist who proclaimed many in her community were also vaccine hesitant.
/n: This is a scientist the entire VRC owes a debt too. She comes from Wuhan, which is the district in China where the 1st reports of respiratory virus outbreak began Dec. 2021.
/n: While sad and confused as her family back home dealt with the onset of this pandemic, she, a member of the VRC director’s lab, approached me & said she wanted to work. She begged to be put to work.
/n: I was like ok... meet me in the break room. I had, @ the time, 2 students who could not do it all. &&& behold following this meeting she was the woman who in about a week (in a time when not one single potent antibody was isolated) optimized our research-grade ELISA. https://twitter.com/kizzyphd/status/1292232299665293313
/n: So yeah. She and her community deserve the same talk, reassurance, & loyalty I give my own.
Thanks Catherine.
