Gandhi ji was assassinated on this day. Annual obituaries on the man cannot appropriate his complex &often conflicting thought streams (am not even involving ‘ideology’). To draw parallels between a political saint who actively negotiated India’s independence from the British...
...and opportunist minions of violent ideological streams is as much a disservice to the man as to the theoretical exegesis of intellectual universe from where these ideas are borrowed for confirmation bias.

Let Gandhi be. Play your politics but not on the dead body of Mahatma!
Vultures might want us to believe during every ‘electoral protest cycle’ that any anti-establishment voice is Gandhi. Must be reminded that independent India has been led by elected leaders out of democratic processes for more than six decades now; it is not Colonial India!
You may have ideological, political or philosophical dissent against Gandhi’s views(which are often contradictory across temporal arc)but one will have to acknowledge his integrity around the idea of non-violence. Ever since Gandhi committed himself to political persuasions...
...he stood firm and unfettered around his core belief in non-violence, sometimes at the expense of compromising on equally strong &popular beliefs around the freedom movement. To compare this man to street ruffians in politics who have held the nation at ransom is shameless.
