just to be clear. this isn't the 4th century. it's the 21st century. the terms 'pagan' and 'christian' are pointers to the reality hidden in plain sight.

imagine that your dreams are haunted by the old gods. you see their works all around you. when you propitiate them wonderous magic results. but the followers of the new god tells you that your magic is demonic. that the old gods are devils.

but you know the truth in your heart

the old gods have on their side that they are truth. they are plain.

the new god demands total obedience. his magic is lies made real. most accept the illusion happily. the new god promises that all wishes will be granted.

but some hold truth too dear in their hearts.

they seek the prophets who blaspheme the new god in public. who continue the old rituals and rites in violation of the bans that the high and mighty who have bent before the new god demand.

they read of the great works of yore, when giants roamed the earth, born of gods & men

the old religion does not promise that the true and good will win out in the end. it only gives one the tools to do good.

the choice is up to us. if you smell the incense, come. but hide. do not make your presence known to the believers of the new
