Gandhi & Partition:Myth & Reality

Gandhi was the last person who agreed for Partition. He kept opposing it till last.Even when there wer riots nd Nehru &Patel agreed for Partition,Gandhi opposed it. Gandhi kept opposing it till last ++
When all efforts were in vain, He sent Raja ji( Rajgopalachari) to Jinnah with his formula of Power sharing, but Jinnah's demands were unacceptable. Jinnah then called for direct action days for Pakistan and riots started happening across Bengal & Punjab ++
British had fixed the date of leaving on 30 June 1948. But because of violence they had lost all control on administration. They wanted to leave early. So they sent Radcliffe to Demarcate the boundary bw India & Pakistan in haste. Ppl had no idea where they will. be ++
That intensified panic &riots. They wer mostly results f administrative failure of British coz f their haste of leaving &Jinnah's irrational demands.Even then Gandhi ws nt ready for Partition.Nehru & Patel accepted Partition so that after getting Power they can stop violence++
Gandhi had left Congress in 1937-38.After 1942 Quit India movement, Gandhi was almost gone from any Position in National movement . It was mostly Nehru & Patel who took every decision. Gandhi was there just like an old man talking about Peace. He had no Power. ++
Yes his only 'fault' was he loved every one. Fir him there was no Hindu-Muslim-dalit-Shudra. So he till last he wanted to keep india intact, undivided, one. He never accepted Partition. ++
Even on the day of 15th August 1947,he was not celebrating Freedom,in Delhi. He was walking alone in the streets of Kolkata, saving Hindu families from riots in Muslim dominated areas. He went alone and stopped the riots on his own. Mountabaten said Gandhi did what army could not+
It is okay to disagree with him.He had many failings. There must be many things we can criticise him. about. But he was the one who loved India,Indians nd fought for every Prejudice & injustice in the World. Don't revere him,but read him, read about freedom movement. You will know.
