Virat Kohli has been bestowed upon the Arjuna Award, the most prestigious sports award in India.the Indian skipper also has the fourth highest civilian award of India, Padma Shri. He won these two awards in the year of 2013 and 2017 for his contribution to Indian cricket.
Kohli won the ‘Wisden Leading Cricketer of the Year’ in 2016 for his exceptional performance in that year. He amassed 1215 Test runs at a marvellous average of 75.93 and in ODIs and T20Is. In ODIs, he scored 739 runs with an average of 92.37 and 651 runs in T20Is averaging at 106
In the same year, he also won the ‘Polly Umrigar Award’ at the BCCI Annual Awards.
In 2019, Virat Kohli reached the milestone of scoring 20,000 runs in a decade. This came during India’s match against the West Indies at Port of Spain. Kohli also went on to score a century in that match which was also his 43rd in One Day cricket.
These runs were calculated from 2010 onwards as this was the year in which he made his Test and T20I debut. Following him is Ricky Ponting with 18,962 runs.
In 2017, Virat Kohli became the fastest international player to reach the milestone of scoring 15,000 runs. He reached achieved this in just 304 matches. He also became the first-ever batsman to have this feat under his belt at an average of over 50.
