Disabled folks who are assumed non-disabled by others, what has been your favorite response by someone who learned you were disabled?
Mine, so far, is when a date didn’t mention my cane at all (some people don’t assume canes are part of permanent disability) and then I asked if she was curious about it and she said that I was under no pressure to share and was happy to keep talking movies 😍
I did end up talking about my disabilities and she was appropriately (not overtly/dramatically) sympathetic to my chronic pain and was happy to learn about other specifics, then we continued talking about other things.

The whole thing felt really casual and great.
