One of the things I feel I *really like* as an experienced programmer is a fast write/compile/test/run cycle. And it seems like the microservices/cloudfunction/lambda revolution just...doesn't seem to think that's important? I don't get why people like this
All these SaaS services seem to desperately want you to get all up in their APIs and really tightly couple your stuff to them. Which I get from THEIR business perspective, but I've sat and watched CircleCI do its thing for 10 minute increments for several hours today...
I am really happy with a longer run cycle if there's a strong type system and thorough type definitions I can do compile-cycles against. But all this shit seems to be "use YAML definition to configure services that hurl untyped JSON blobs at each other"
