Whitney Houston started out singing in the church as a young girl, she was trained by her mother cissy Houston, who was a gospel singer and I believe she was also the choir director. Presented to you is a video of Whitney singing in church
Whitney grew up listening to and around power house singers, she was cousins with Dionne and Dee Dee Warwick, and was influenced by acts such as Chaka khan, Aretha Franklin, and Barbra Streisand.
Arguably the first thing you notice about Whitney’s voice is the raw power it has to it.... here are some examples ...
Whitney also has incredible agility which she showcased throughout her career, she was able to move freely between registers as well. As you can see here she transitions into her head register with ease

I think you get the point, every singer who came after Whitney, was inspired / influenced by Whitney. Without her there would be no current music industry. She came out in the mid 80’s when acts like Madonna and Michael Jackson

We’re dominating the music industry with their stage productions and performances, she had to compete with acts like Janet Jackson and Paula Abdul who also have amazing stage presence and dance talent. Whitney came out and just sang and was just as successful as them
There’s tons more that goes into making Whitney Houston “the voice” and I may add them later, but for now I urge you to go dive deeper into her music and voice and see for yourself, especially before you come on twitter and say she had bad technique and didn’t support her voice
Or any of the other delusional things you weird stans have been saying, before diminishing someone’s talent, take a look into their talent first , and when it comes to Whitney you’ll retract your previous statements ! Because she is the best for a reason
