How much does a front page ad in Dinathanthi cost? 30k for an edition? Lakhs for all TN. Why can't they spend a few thousands on translating it? What makes ppl think Machine translation is more reliable. I seriously don't understand. This is unintelligible

Bloody LIC did something similar few days back. It was somewhat edited but based on Machine translation I guess. They have soo many employees in this state. WTF!

Now f ads. This is from Aadhaar website. Just as an example. It is based on google translate and edited slightly (not in a good way). The English has a mistake, Letter is repeated twice (or one Letter is out of the brackets), which makes google translate mess up that sentence. +

And that Tamil sentence is messed up. Even the rest though not unintelligible is really bad. It just asks have you gone to a new city instead of moved! Now understanding one such para might be possible with lot of effort. Imagine the whole website. Imagine all services. +

Google, Microsoft and the whole Machine translation culture is a threat in the way oversell it. Not in the translators need money sense. But they are messing up the use of language in our daily, digital lives in the hope their AIs will learn better? I don't even know enough +
