“Should we include intersex?”

Sure... if it:
- is created by/with intersex people
- seeks to SUPPORT people who are born with variations of sex development

AND
- is not just a voyeuristic or an oversimplified glance into a complex lived experience
- creating generalisations
Don’t call it allyship if it’s just something which is about us, created without our input as individuals or groups, and is fundamentally tailored to a non-intersex audience.
Performing major cosmetic treatments on children without any form of psychological support IS A PROBLEM.

You can dress it up with all of your “best intentions” but it doesn’t detract from the pain which is physical, emotional and psychological - often traumatic and long-term.
I’ve been that child whose body was repeatedly altered in my “best interest”. Even as a teenager when it felt like my idea, there was still no access or intervention from psychological or social support workers... believe me when I say meeting just a surgeon or GP is NEVER enough
