I'm anxious about UBI/BI program implementation for many reasons. One of them being the enthusiasm of conservative & capitalist driven groups like UBI Works, which have invested $ into a campaign to lobby against the recent BC report ( https://bcbasicincomepanel.ca/ ) #nlpoli https://twitter.com/Alleyson/status/1355244482195816452

UBI Works is just one example.
I thought I was being a bit too paranoid about the influence corporations have on the UBI/BI movement. The more I look into it,the more obvious it is.The BC report is giving me life when I was otherwise feeling pretty depleted from UBI/BI convos. Also this: https://springmag.ca/against-the-market-we-can-do-better-than-basic-income
Profiteers of UBI purposely conflate UBI with living wage. Gerry Byrne did it in the HoA recently as did the employer rep & chair of the NL min wage review committee last year*. UBI/BI & living wage are not the same. Saying so is malice aforethought.
