Mac Jones thread:

- Accuracy and timing in the short-medium range is really good
- Works well in the pocket, does a good job creating throwing lanes
- Lack of arm strength is a big problem
- Creating plays out of structure is non-existent
When he can play with anticipation and has time in the pocket, he can pick you apart.

Jones has an 85.2% adjusted completion percentage with a targeted depth between 0-19, That was 3rd best in the NCAA last season.

This first throw is absurd.
He has a limit to how far he can throw the ball. There are a ton of plays (like the ones below) where he hits receivers in stride 40 yards downfield. Anything past around 45 yards in the air is where he struggles.
Like I said anything around 50+ yards in the air is where you start to see those underthrown balls.

Sometimes it worked out and he got lucky with DPI calls or crazy contested catches and sometimes it didn't.
Another problem with his lack of arm strength is that everything throw needs perfect timing. His arm strength can't make up for him being late on throws.

He got away with it in this play, but it will be hard to get away with it against NFL defenses.
Don't expect him to make any plays outside of the pocket. He looks awkward when he scrambles...

In today's NFL where you see young QBs like Mahomes, Watson, and Josh Allen extending plays and turning nothing into something, pure pocket passers are becoming a thing of the past.
I think he can have a long successful career in the NFL. He's extremely smart and it showed at Alabama.

To me, his ceiling is Kirk Cousins or Andy Dalton. I just don't think he'll ever be the type of guy who can become a top 10 franchise QB but he can be a serviceable backup
