Mikel Arteta does not believe the signing of Martin Ødegaard will halt Emile Smith Rowe’s progress at Arsenal and has said the pair could even play alongside each other. ( @standardsport)
Arteta: “Of course, they [Ødegaard and Smith Rowe] can play together, and it is not about pushing somebody else [out of the team]. Emile has earned his right to play the way he is performing - and Martin has to earn that."
Arteta on signing Martin Ødegaard after his loan deal expires: "He certainly has all the qualities and characteristics that we are looking for for that position. We will see"
Arteta on signing Ødegaard permanently: "It will be down to two things. How well he adapts here and how much of an impact he can have in our team. Secondly, what Real Madrid and the player think about it. He's owned by Real Madrid and the player has a big say in that too"
Martin Ødegaard has not ruled out staying at Arsenal next season, hence his decision to take the #11 shirt. ( @defcentral)
Ødegaard had the option of taking the no.10 or no.11, however, 10 is the number Smith Rowe wants, but he can't change numbers in the middle of the season, but he will change to it next season. ( @defcentral)

Southampton have entered the race to sign Ainsley Maitland-Niles on loan. Contacted Arsenal in last 24 hours & Arsenal prefer that over West Brom or a rival. Could raise fresh questions about Ryan Bertrand future. ( @David_Ornstein)
Preliminary talks are underway over a deal which would see Maitland-Niles spend the rest of the season on loan at St Mary’s. However, Sky Sports News has learnt that Maitland-Niles prefers a move to West Brom, where he is more likely to get valuable game time. ( @SkySportsNews)
Any deal with Southampton for Maitland-Niles could entail Ryan Bertrand going in the opposite direction as left back cover. He has just 6 months left on his deal at St Mary's. It is now understood that West Brom & Southampton are the sides Maitland-Niles is deciding ( @MailSport)
. @charles_watts on whether Arsenal could sign another player before the transfer window closes: "I think at Arsenal, the key right now is potentially more outgoings. Mikel [Arteta] didn’t totally rule out the possibility of people coming in, but I’d be very surprised"
Martin Keown on Maitland-Niles: "Without the wing-back system it doesn’t seem like there’s a place for him. It’s disappointing for him, but maybe he’s better off to get some football and go on loan between now & the end of the season"
Ole Gunnar Solskjær on Martin Ødegaard: "Martin is a very talented young player. We know he can cause any team problems. I just hope he's not finding his form on Saturday. I wish him all the best, he's a good boy, good attitude, right character. Arsenal have made a good signing"
Tony Adams has slammed Arsenal's recent transfer business, believing signings such as Willian will cause more harm than good. ( @MailSport)
Tony Adams on Willian: 'Why have you brought him into the squad? If you have got him just to make up the numbers because he has got a bit of experience, where are you going with that?' Adams told Stadium Astro.
Tony Adams: "I have cried out about the recruitment on more than one occasion. Edu is very inexperienced and they were heavily reliant on agents to get players into the club. All of a sudden you have got Willian, Cedric, all the same agent." ( @MailSport)
Tony Adams tells Arsenal to put faith in youth: "We have got so many kids coming through, don't buy these players!. You spot areas of the squad that are weak. You don't go and get Willian on a three-year contract.. That is really poor sports directorship." ( @MailSport)
Tony Adams tells Arsenal to put faith in their youth players: "If you are building a club to win the league then you don't fill up areas when you have good kids coming through." ( @MailSport)
