This thread is based off a couple videos I watched which I will link at the end, it blew my mind when i first watched it because it was a perfect explanation for the appearance of his wand.
In the flashback in COS, we see the wand he used is completely different to the one that is later brought in GOF,
now the simple explanation would be the design team just changing it so it looked scarier and more villain-like and theres no story behind it+

BUT. this always bugged me and I've always wanted an in-canon explanation other than just "a change in design".
So, anyway, when we look at his wand, it looks scary asf right?

Like... This is NOT a wand you'd see a child with. You really think that Ollivander would give an 11 YEAR OLD BOY a wand that looks like a... bone??? No. Because he didn't.
As we know, tom's appearance changed slowly as he began to create horcruxes. And to create a horcrux, the wizard must use their wand to commit the act. Now, basically this theory thinks that as his appearance changed, so did the wand's.
"The wand chooses the wizard" as they say. His wand was loyal to him, so it adapted with him.
As he kept committing these horrible acts and creating horcruxes, his wand matched his soul, and it's appearance began to change. It became dark, and ugly to say the least.

It's to represent his mangled soul. To show that it itself was tainted by him using it to create the horcruxes.
I'm terrible at explaining but here are links to two youtube videos that explain it way better than i did lmao
end of thread !
