Founders: Such a huge response to my “send the cold/DM” tweet that I’ll share my general go-to format.

A 🧵(ha, first time I've used that emoji!)
First off, I learned last year that what I was writing was somewhat working. @ericbahn responded to my cold email with this:
Since that was early in my fundraising days, I decided to stick to the format. As I look through my plethora of cold emails, I do stay the course and focus on three key chunks.
I acknowledge that I’ll keep it short knowing that their time is valuable and that they’re probably on their 500th cold email of the day. Did my research. More than likely, I’m reaching out to them b/c of something specific that I resonate with. Mention it. Build relatedness.
I introduce who I am in three to four-ish sentences.

1. My name is X and I’m building Y.
2. Here’s what Y does and the VERY HIGH LEVEL problem we’re solving.
3. Here’s who’s backing us (if relevant)
4. Why @ relevance on why you want to connect. 1-2 sentences. Deck link. Send.
The art of following up. It’s tendency to not want to be pushy. I follow up every few days. I’m strategic in how I do it. I’ll give an update since I last emailed them. New investor? Launch update? More customers? etc etc.

Keep pushing. Be polite. Be respectful. Good luck!
