Most people overcomplicate Meditation

Thinking there is only a "right" method on how it can be done

This couldn’t be further form the truth

If you are worrying if you are really meditating or doing it right

Let me tell you:

You can’t really do meditation wrong
There are tons of different possible meditation techniques

But they all come down to two things

Awareness and Focus

What are they?
By practicing awareness you switch from the driver seat to the observer seat

You are conscious about your body, your thoughts, your surroundings

It could be as simple as being aware of the quality of air

Being aware of your heartbeat

Of being alive
Focus is channeling your attention on one thing

To tune out all distractions

The most common practice is focusing your attention on your breath (Vipassana)

Focus is a superpower in modern times where everyone and everything is competing for your attention
But how do you start?

First you should drop your pressure and expectation when it comes to Meditation

You can simply set a timer for 5 min. and sit down

Just do nothing and observe what happens

How do you feel?

What do you think?
Observe as if you would looking at the thoughts and feelings of another person

Do not value, simple observe

If the 5 minutes are over, congratulations you just meditated!

1 Breathing

The most common one that you all heard about and it is simply sitting and observing my breath

„Breathing in I grant my body peace

Breathing out I plant a smile“

Don’t worry when your thoughts go away from your breath

Simply recognize it and start breathing again

Zooming out

To recognize that you are not your body and that you are just a little grain of sand in this world

I like to imagine myself from a bird eye perspective - as if I would look at myself from a camera in the corner of the ceiling
Then zoom out

Recognize the room

The house

The street

The neighborhood

Going higher like a plane

The city

The earth

The solar system

Until there is only darkness

You can either keep expanding into nothingness

Or zoom all the way back in and repeat the process

Visualizing

To speed up the process between your desired state and your current state you need to visualize your goals

By clearly imagining them you will program your mind to work towards them

Remember you can’t do something that you can’t imagine

So let’s get practical
Imagine how you want your life to be

Imagine the things you want to experience

Create a motion picture in your mind and try to go into as much detail as possible
For example if your dream is to fly first class to Japan

Imagine how you would behave at the airport if money is no issue

How the seats in the plane would feel

How the Sushi in Japan tastes

How does it smells

Think of your dream as already achieved!
Then recognize how you feel

When you end your visualization keep that feeling with you

Make it a feeling of certainty to bring this visualization into the material world

Keep that feeling with you throughout the day and your life will change
