1. #HighRiskCA Some folks say that the order of vaccine distribution doesn't matter, that what's most important is that many people get it fast. Here's the thing though:
2. I have a chronic illness that requires regular management. This means that I've had to go inside hospitals and medical centers this whole pandemic.
3. Yes, I've done virtual appointments too. But I can't do certain tests virtually. I've also not been able to receive all my medication by mail. Because of the way my health care provider is set up, I have to go into the same facilities as COVID-19 patients.
4. I go into medical centers and hospitals even though I'm on strong drugs that suppress my immune system. Every single trip is a risk. Every month means another trip to the same indoor spaces that I know for a fact to have folks with corona.
5. If the occasional person "skips the line" it's not a tragedy. But this is not what we're seeing. What we're seeing is a failure of distributive justice and disability justice. What we're seeing is disabled and high risk people being shown yet again that we can be sacrificed.
