After watching today’s press conference some points I’ve gathered.
1. These new variants are not the first and they certainly won’t be the last - preventing transmission and opportunity for mutation is key: wear a mask, avoid high risk activity, stop unnecessary travel.

2. Vaccine distribution is even more important to assist in stopping spread. Last week 1.26 million doses/day were given, this is a good start but we need to increase these numbers and target high risk communities. There needs to be more transparent data on actual quantity.
3. The United States falls incredibly short on genomic testing. Without this, we are fighting a fire with blindfolds on. The tactic of blissful ignorance of viral prevalence is a remnant of the last administration that we need to rid immediately.
4. Lastly, additional data on vaccine efficacy in children likely but time is needed. We know that children are less likely to suffer from and transmit #COVID19 “Age Deescalation” studies likely to provide results on safety and immunogenicity to combine with known efficacy
