But if rumour is correct, EU haven't paid the down payments, so the contract isn't enforceable at this point. Initial payments were promised to assist with set up costs, purchase of raw materials etc. for the AZ facilities in Europe.
2. Best efforts & all the rest of the legal provisions fall away if the EU hasn't providing the promised funding to help AZ set up the manufacturing facilities & to purchase materials necessary for vaccine production.

No wonder they redacted that part of the contract.
3. This reminds me of one of those contract law questions we'd get at bar school, where we'd have to go through the case & work out all the contractual issues. Of course it never happens in real life because organisations aren't that stupid 🙄
