UPDATE on the stock market:

Stock prices for Gamestop, AMC, & Blackberry are up. MILLIONS of social media users are buying JUST 1 or 2 of these stocks. When MILLIONS band together & buy a FEW, demand rises & the stock price jumps. GUESS how much hedge funds are currently losing?

According to Reuters, hedge funds are losing over $70 BILLION in short positions, they are being SQUEEZED. A reminder, "shorting" is when you bet money that a stock price will go down. Hedge funds are known for making billions betting on a company's demise.

"Squeezed" in financial terms means that hedge funds have to "cover" (close) their short positions because if you short a stock & the stock price KEEPS going up, you can lose UNLIMITED AMOUNTS OF $$$. For example, if you short 1 stock at $1 & it jumps to $100, you're losing $99.

Anyways, it's remarkable how MILLIONS of tiny investors can just buy just 1 or 2 a day or a week of stocks like $GME, $AMC, & $BB, hold them, the stock prices rise due to the demand, AND hedge funds get taken down. It's like everyday people taking power back from billionaires!

Hedge funds are hoping that millions of tiny investors will sell all their shares when the stock price rises even just a little or a lot. This is a called a "sell off". During a sell off, the stock price goes DOWN due to less demand. This is good for hedge funds who short.

As an activist, I personally love when the people unite in whichever way possible to take down the powerful few (funny it's through the stock market). Hope the gov doesn't side w/their Wall Street donors & instead go after trading apps like Robinhood restricting trade for y'all!
