Let's have a closer look at our losing #UCL 2019-2020 finalist @PSG_inside, the French club from Paris who is dominating @Ligue1UberEats, by winning the French title 7 times in the last 8 years. Because if you really look a little closer, it will make your jaws dropping #PSG
PSG recently fired their manager Thomas #Tuchel. Tuchel won 2 consecutive national titles with the club and reached the UCL final in 2020, losing against the best clubteam of the moment @FCBayern, which is not a shame. They are on track in Ligue1 and UCL, despite lots of injuries
But Tuchel and PSG's sporting director Leonardo were not on good speaking terms anymore and Leonardo saw his chance, when Tuchel complained to German channel Sport1 that unfortunately, he had to do much more at PSG than just coaching the team. He sacked Tuchel on Christmas Eve
The problem with PSG is that their investors, Qatar Sports Investment and the PSG chairman Nasser El-Kelaïfi, do not have any football knowledge. They fully rely on Leonardo, former Brazilian international who coached Milan for 1 year and was send away, the same happened at Inter
These investors want international titles, just expecting that they can buy those titles by putting plenty of money in the club and they are getting impatient. So Leonardo felt their presssure and used Tuchel as a scapegoat, happy to get rid of him
He brought in the Argentinian coach Maurice Pocchettino, who never won a real prize as a coach in Europe in 12 years. He did reach an UCL final with Spurs, which he lost, same as Tuchel. By the way, Tuchel won 7 prizes in his career as a coach
How does Sporting Director Leonardo perform in the transfer business. Well, he let his best defender Thiago Silva (then 35) leave to Chelsea, because he was 'too old' and now wants to contract Madrid defender Sergio Ramos (soon 35) this summer
He has not been able yet to renew the contracts of his star players Neymar and Mbappé. Negotiations with Neymar look good, with Mbappé they don't. But Leonardo doesn't seem to care, as his dream is Lionel Messi. Messi, still best in the world, almost 34, while Mbappé is just 22
On top of that he is trying desperately to contract Tottenham's Dele Alli, former Pochettino's apple of the eye, who is a bench warmer at his club, just playing 4 matches in one year
It seems obvious that Leonardo has only one task: win the #UCL and nothing less. These Qatar sheiks desperately want to show the 'Cup with the big ears", preferrably before the WorldCup 2022, which is in Qatar...
Where this will lead to? I would not be surprised that if PSG manages to win the Champions League, the sheiks will stop their endless investments in the club, having reached their goal. And if they do not win it, they probably stop also, as even in Qatar money is not endless
That would be a crying shame for the Paris club, their players and their fans, but is likely to happen. And finding a new investor with similar big pockets like the sheiks from Qatar in current times, is very unlikely
That's why I predict, with regret, that in a few years we will talk, analyze and read about 'the rise and fall of PSG and Leonardo.' Like Johan Cruyff said: 'I have never seen a bag of mone score a goal.' End of this thread
mone? money! 💰😂
