MLS announces the two sides are still "far apart" but will extend the deadline by a week.
The MLSPA made big concessions. The league, unsurprisingly, is stuck on a two-year extension. My take: they don't want to negotiate a new CBA right before or right after the 2026 World Cup.

The MLSPA made an offer with real financial concessions and have now agreed to extend the CBA agreed to in February by two years.
But the leverage point of the 2026 World Cup is still there. And the league doesn't want it there. So, we'll see where it goes from here.

So far, the league's only "concession" in this negotiation has been to increase the percentage of cap increase from '26 to '27.
Can't argue that the MLSPA's offer was *significantly* more movement toward a compromise, but it doesn't look the league is willing to budge at all.

Getting ready to record a new @AllocationDsrdr right now with @samstejskal to react to last night's MLSPA offer and today's MLS announcement. Should be up later today.
"If we are unable to finalize a new CBA by 11:59 p.m. ET on February 4, the MLS Labor Committee has voted unanimously to authorize the league to terminate the CBA and institute a lockout."
This blows my mind. So much to say about this approach.
