A major reason for vaccine shortages in the UK and EU is that both the UK and the EU blocked the lifting of patents on all COVID vaccines at the WTO. We could have already produced so much more vaccine if this wasn't done. We would have generic, domestic manufacture of the very

best vaccines, instead of having to wait for individual, private firms to scale their operations without government support. It is still possible for the UK and EU (with the USA) to lift all these patents. There should be enormous political pressure to do this! The reason the

vaccine roll-out is slow is because our governments chose to support the profits of big pharma over people's health.
