What happens in high-total NFL showdown slates

// Thread //
You need to score more points (duh) but not that much more. In slates that featured a 50+ point total, lineups that finished in the top 1% scored 122.5 DraftKings points compared to 118.2 DraftKings points for lineups in games with a sub 50-point total.
WRs are king in high total games. It isn’t all that surprising given league-wide trends and DraftKings favorable scoring setup but receivers have easily been the biggest beneficiary in projected shootouts:
There is leverage in being heavy on the dogs as the field builds more balanced lineups. While lineups that are balanced/heavy on the favorites are more likely to finish in the top 1%, lineups that favor the dogs are more likely to be unique when they do end up near the top
Even with the high total and premium on DraftKings points, you shouldn’t be worried about maxing the salary cap. In games with a total of at least 50 points, the average salary used for top 1% lineups was $49400 and nearly 14.5% of those lineups used < $49000.
There's going to be a lot of points scored, so I can't play Kickers or DSTs right? Not necessarily. Even in high-total games, 30% of top 1% lineups rostered at least (1) kicker and 25.6% rostered at least (1) DST.
- Emphasize upside throughout the lineup (particularly at CPT and final flex spots)
- Prioritize WRs; Tyreek, Godwin, Evans
- Don't overlook Tompa Bay onslaughts
- Get comfortable leaving some $ on the table despite the plethora of studs to pay up for
- Kickers & DSTs matter too
