All right a while back I asked you all about what you guys feel the future Indian footballing league structure should be. A lot of interesting points. So here MY ideal #IndianFootball league structure. #Thread
This structure is not my ideal structure. It's one that I believe would transition easily from the proposed league structure.
Assumption-all leagues get an upgrade in status. I.e. my ilg2 is treated as current ILG, Conference leagues treated as current ILG2,etc. Let's go

ISL- 16 teams, 16th team gets relegated
I-league- 18 teams, 1st team get direct promotion.
I-league 2- 20 teams, top 2 teams get direct promotion.
15th placed ISL team and 2nd placed I-league team to play promotional final.
16th of ILG and 3rd team of ILG2 promotion final
I-league- 18 teams, 1st team get direct promotion.
I-league 2- 20 teams, top 2 teams get direct promotion.
15th placed ISL team and 2nd placed I-league team to play promotional final.
16th of ILG and 3rd team of ILG2 promotion final
Bottom 4 teams relegated to the conference leagues.
Conference leagues- Two conferences. North+East and South+west.
16 teams each
2 teams promoted per conference to ILG2
Bottom 4 teams relegated per conference.

2 teams promoted per conference to ILG2
Bottom 4 teams relegated per conference.
Zonal Leagues- North, East, West, and South.
14 teams each
Top team from each zone gets promoted
2nd-5th teams play promotional playoff
14 teams each

2nd-5th teams play promotional playoff
From here, you start connecting the states league to the zonal leagues. There are several quality leagues and with exposure, you increase your pool of quality players exponentially. Upto state FAs to decide that procedure,

Take away- Promotion methods are changeable. It's just a way to incorporate finals into the league system which always creates a lot of hype.
I'm not against santosh trophy but I believe that a club based zonal cup system incorporates a lot more consistency.
