Just a thread on #doses #covid19vacc for those who are puzzled. (Having given 1000’s in my life)
CDC says #PfizerVaccine vial can give “up to 6 doses” where as in Canada we said 5. The -up to- makes perfect sense
A 3 cc vial would have 6— .5 cc injections. This is presuming a perfect draw with no waste by the person administering. This person could be doing 100’s in a day.
You cannot do part doses from different vials and of course critical to give exactly right dose. If you draw a little to much you cannot put it back and must waste- no 6th doses that vial.
Obviously easier to be precise with 1cc syringe as opposed to 3 cc. Just like you prefer your surgeon to have a scalpel not a paring knife
Of course we have not seen contracts but pretty basic that the Government and Pfizer should have been on the same page for purpose of calculating doses delivered.
