It's been two months since the eight @BritishArmy veterans lost their legal battle to stay in the UK, but still nothing from the government.

These men fought for our country and are now living here in limbo, fearing destitution and deportation.

When I raised their case with the Home Secretary in @HouseofCommons last month, I was told the government was aware of the situation and working to correct it.

Apologies for not including @pritipatel’s response but the feed in the chamber cut out!
I wrote to @BWallaceMP in December to request that he personally intervene in their case to ensure the veterans are granted the right to stay in the UK as a matter of urgency. I am still waiting for his reply.
The government won the legal argument but is losing the moral one.

What message is this ordeal sending to the many foreign and Commonwealth servicemen and women who selflessly and bravely serve our country?
This isn’t the first time either.

In 2013, Filimone Lacanivalu, a veteran of Northern Ireland, Bosnia and Afghanistan was given an eleventh-hour reprieve after spending five weeks in a detention centre awaiting deportation to Fiji. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-24967399
These veterans need help now and should be granted emergency right to stay in the same way.

Then the government must scrap immigration fees for Service personnel and their families, and find out how many others are out there.
Make no mistake, this is a scandal. One the government has known about for years.

It needs rectifying immediately.
