I think he is a relative of a friend, and our paths crossed when I was finishing high school.

As a person he was a nice, regular guy. But I remember the family was quite rich & upper class. Disconnected from regular people.

Such people try to over compensate.

Poralis/commies are often from privileged backgrounds. Why?

You can call it a sort of privilege guilt but I think it comes through a deep inner conviction that they are a class above the riffraff.

2/
I can usually get along with them when they're not connecting every bloody thing with

1. politics ergo Modi/Trump
2. Judgment of some kind

They can be polite and fun like the next person.

But that snobbish virtue signaling comments are NEVER far away

Why?

3/
I think it's because they've been told they are intelligent and special in a way others aren't.

Imagine having that kind of self created pressure.

Engineering or economics no longer will do!

4/
In this respect, Sidharth is very lucky. He did make something of himself in a creative field.

Most such people never do and have to rub shoulders with riffraff in regular jobs.

5/
But career success will never ever be enough.

Money, well they always had it.

They have it all, but are usually angry, sometimes addicted, often have broken relationships.

Something is missing, after all.

Anger. Emptiness.

6/
Dog/cat mom, feeding an orphan, Electric car, all these help. Empathy helps all of us, after all.

But what can fill the void, channel all that rage, allow them HATE the hardworking middle class without being the jerk?

7/
"Rage against the machine" is the answer. Giving it to the oppressor, the man.

Even if you are the machine, you are the oppressor.

That's why spoilt rich brat Rahul Gandhi can pose with poor people & rage against self-made Modi without a TRACE of irony.

8/
So

It isn't about socialism.
It isn't about corruption.

These people aren't evil. They and their friends truly believe they are gems.

They have no CLUE of the hate they've cultivated within.

It's righteous rage after all.

9/
Why the hatred of the Middle class? Engineer, doc, govt employee, CA (yikes!),... what did we do to irk the rich?

Oh where do I even start.

For one, we seem to have such frustrating ambitions.

- investment for kids.. LIC, RD, FD, stock
-money
- connect with culture..

10/
More than everything, we have the audacity to be happy. We simply don't have the rage. We think there are problems but if we improve OURSELVES we improve society.

That's not what the rich are taught.

Dear middle class thats not what the future rich:YOUR kids are taught.

11/
They are taught a shortcut to greatness & fame. Think Greta. Malala.

As we speak schools are teaching social work, activism, and Greta is the role model for your kids.

Where we are headed is where the rich were.

"You are special".

That's the phrase that destroyed them.
