I was in the Capitol on January 6. I wrote a minute-by-minute account of my experience of the day for @Poynter. I tried to capture the anxiety and fear of that day, and the terror that came from later learning how bad it could have been. Some fellow reporters that day who made it better:
@pkcapitol, who kept his cool the whole time, & ran through the gallery like Paul Revere when Pence left.
@npfandos, who pressed the override button on the elevator to get us to the basement without stopping at any other floors.

@ktullymcmanus, who helped make sure two Capitol maintenance workers were evacuated.
@ReporterCioffi, who let me borrow his charger twice.
@jason_donner, who asked great questions of senators every timed they dared emerge from the room.

@igorbobic, who reported on the chaos in real time, and became one of the primary sources for what was happening for evacuated reporters.
@kadiagoba, my fellow reporter from New York who always makes things better with her jokes and pitch-perfect comments.

Finally, huge shout out to my fellow CBS News colleagues on the Hill that day:
@cbszak, who captured great video of what was happening on the House side.
@ProducerKimB, who is always ready with a kind word and advice.
@alanhe, who let me know my backpack was safe

One final thank you to a non-reporter who was very important to me that day - my boyfriend. He sent me regular pictures of Pumpkin and stayed up until 4 a.m. to pick me up from the Capitol. I'm truly lucky to have such a great partner.
