Another Rail Expert, Engineer @GarethDennis has already thrown his backing behind it. https://twitter.com/GarethDennis/status/1349304079428816901?s=19
And another, here's @stefatrail of @Rail_Magazine writing in detail just how well thought out and crucial this plan is! https://twitter.com/Harryhuyton/status/1354734402488688641?s=19
Rail for All is much more than just a tunnel too! Desperately needed upgrades to every line, new connections for long forgotten stations. A true reversal of the Beeching cuts. And there's even more in the report!
Previously, Labour Councillor @AltanyCraik spoke down the plan. He said, "We need realistic proposals for investment and improvement on both the Fife Circle and East Coast mainline not a project that might be delivered in future decades,”... (cont'd)
“We know that the service we endure is not good enough and that should be the focus of our thinking.

“Six billion pounds is a great deal of money that could be invested in truly addressing changing travel, and work, needs in our region."...(cont'd)
"We shouldn’t be focusing on overheating the Edinburgh jobs market but rather creating jobs that won’t require a congested commute and will keep our carbon footprint down.”

He completely misses the point, forgetting the fact that the service the Fife Circle has to "endure" is...
a service that some places in this country would kill for. This tunnel will do exactly what he wants. When it opens long haul trains will entirely avoid the Fife Circle, opening up capacity for more services on the line. This tunnel directly improves service on the FC.
This has nothing to do with the Edinburgh jobs market, this is about creating a step change in connectivity for the citizens north of the central belt. Cutting travel time this much will attack Central Belt-ism and help to prevent Scotland forming a deep North/South divide.
Altany Craik is Fife Council's spokesman for transport, this is a perfect demonstration of the problem we have in this country. Our officials have no vision. These plans are technically competent, and offer a solution to the exact problem he says we should address.
Not only that, this plan delivers better links for the people on the Fife Circle. The freight only line from Dunfermline to Alloa will be reopened to passengers, slashing the time from Fife to Glasgow!

If its "realistic proposals" you want @AltanyCraik, then open your eyes.
Read this beautiful quote and imagine this future for Scotland.

“The Forth tunnel would give this generation of Scottish engineers the opportunity to continue the strong traditions of their illustrious predecessors – creating transformational infrastructure for the nation.”
This is possible. This is affordable.

Vote Scottish Greens @scotgp in May to see it happen.
