Wave 1 was awful. Wave 2 is worse.

Over a quarter of all UK Covid deaths for whole pandemic have been reported in 2021 - last 4 weeks.

Chart is for reported deaths (29%) which is bit skewed by low testing in wave 1. It's 26% using gold standard ONS deaths (calcs next tweet)
For ONS: 103,704 deaths with Covid on death cert to 15th January 2021, 17,790 since 1 Jan. Since 16th Jan, there have been 12,151 deaths within 28 days by date of death from dashboard (big underestimate as registrations ongoing). So 29,941 since Jan 1 & 115,855 total -> 26%.
