I joined SNP 1955. We were patronised, laughed at, insulted on a daily basis. I DO know difference between banter and dislike/hatred/racism - services taught me. Anybody followed gov policy doesn't have to look far to find discrimination. Polaris, Thatcher, Blair, oil, annexation 6,ooo sq. miles /Scots waters, Gers, Heath, Kilbrandon, 1st Ref 1979. Want to debate it happy to do so.
In this thread, patronised dismissed as "irrelevant" to English, ambivalent about us, "let them have their independence". Need telling, it ain't theirs to give. Racism one way street/Scots hate English but they just love us. Aye right & its our ain fault
Riding in S of France, mixed hack with 20 yr old son & mother. Neither cld ride but son dismissed help of ride leader cos of fractured English. I offered help. "At last someone who can speak English. Are you Scottish?" says Mummy, "But he is an educated Scot" So there
Late son Andrew lived London 5yrs. One night returning on tube, on leaving we didn't close door properly. followed by shouts of "Scotch bastards". Pool hall been in regularly, asked to leave cos locals objected to Scots. He was on receiving end regularly
Respect those feel British, I don't. Animosity parts of England exists, casual & unbelievable. Self loathing by Scots Unionists even more unbelievable. Nationalists on receiving end long before Mod SNP. I deplore both
