1. I see Maajid Nawaz is enjoying his favourite hobby of patting himself on the back for always being right. But this is an entirely misleading account of what he claimed, and the conspiratorial, false misinformation he spread about the Capitol attack
2. Maajid never simply claimed that individuals from Antifa/BLM were 'involved'. Of course *some* other non-Trumpian trouble causers were present. Who's denying that? Hardly the issue, though, is it? What Maajid did is completely overstate their role based on *false information*
3. Maajid implied there were credible reasons to suggest the 'protesters who stormed Capitol Hill' were 'Antifa Infiltrators'. He did this in the context of sharing a (now deleted tweet) claiming 'facial recognition software' had identified 'Antifa Infiltrators'
4. This turned out to be untrue. The Washington Times had to correct their story and apologise. I submit there's a difference between saying some non-Trump elements were present and spreading misinformation about 'Antifa Infiltrators' https://www.buzzfeednews.com/amphtml/craigsilverman/facial-recognition-antifa-washington-times-false?__twitter_impression=true
5. But don't worry, in the interest of balance, Maajid was able to notice that "many were Trump supporters too". Completely balanced, unskewed approximation of the situation there.
6. The Capitol Hill attacks were a disgusting assault on democracy carried out overwhelming by Trump supporters high on dangerous conspiracy theories about a stolen election. Conspiracy theories that Maajid Nawaz spent weeks lending credibility to.
