I'm finding it tough right now to manage communication as a freelancer – I often have to communicate with lots of ppl within an org at once, but

–texts/whatsapps about work aren't gr8
–don't want a billion emails
–don't feel Discord/Slack/Teams is something ppl easily adapt to
Texts/Whatsapp/Fb messages:
I really don't mind this in most cases/if it's sporadic, but it's hard to keep any kind of work/life balance if the places I use to communicate in my social life are places I'm also getting work messages, some of them should definitely be emails
Emails:
Obviously necessary for lots of things, but getting lots of them about projects can end up with having to scroll through a billion emails to find info, and for things that need a quick or short response texts/whatsapps actually feel better
Slack/Discord/Teams:
I ❤️ Slack/Discord for projects (less so teams) because it has the immediacy of texts but it's a designated work space, but they only work if everyone commits, and if I'm just working on one project for an org it doesn't feel like my place to suggest these
Also when working with people who are used to emails and texts for organising, and/or are less tech savvy, it feels quite difficult to try to convince people to change to an alternative platform (again, especially if I'm only there for one project)
Is this something anyone else is finding?

Also I'm aware this is something definitely magnified by the lockdown/remote working situation
I think stuff like Slack/Notion/Discord would be SO helpful for lots of organisations, maybe what I'm saying is I think there should be some kind of training course focusing on online tools and project management aimed specifically at ppl working in participatory arts
adding Google Docs to this list

talked to a workshop leader today who said they don't feel confident w/ new tech + that's where the problem is

arts workshops are often about convincing ppl they can do things and to give it a go – it's the same with tech, I think ppl have a mental block https://twitter.com/willtheanderson/status/1355115077435858944?s=20
I think it's especially hard to get everyone on board with a new comms platform when it's often a team of freelancers working on several projects – feels like a lot to commit to a new platform (more notifications to check) when it's just for one thing https://twitter.com/willtheanderson/status/1355115542714200064?s=20
If it's a company where everyone just works for them, straightforward to say 'everyone, our messaging is going to be on Slack from now on' or w/e, but what if there are 5 different freelancers on a project for a very short period all with different communication preferences?
