1/ Some learnings from doing 60+ interviews so far with potential fellows for the Designer Fellowship.

2/ The pandemic has really amplified the need to be connected and have access to a strong support network.
3/ As a designer, the available careers paths are often unclear; most have referenced IC or management and leadership as the only options but are curious to learn what else is out there.
4/ The path to becoming a more impactful design manager & leader can be intimidating and filled with uncertainty. You often stumble into the role without knowing what it involves and how to thrive in it.
5/ The majority feel lonely as a new manager or a leader and do not find the support needed to progress within their organisations.
6/ Others are not taking the next step in their careers as they're either unclear of the options or feel a lack of confidence in their ability to land that promotion.
Some have very clear goals like "Design leaders in my company have never been designers, what's up with that?

7/ I want to break through the ceiling so I can become a true design leader."
Most are actively seeking to understand business decisions and the language to be prepared ahead of landing in these very different and often tricky conversations.

8/ The idea of a somewhat structured but fluid learning + a highly curated community is compelling.
9/ It's been pretty easy to quickly identify who's a good fit for the fellowship - the ones who are looking for something like this get the concept immediately and want to be part of it.
