Stuart took us for some journ tuts in my first year, and honestly everyone fell in love with him. He was seen as progressive, a true ally, and was praised for his activism. But then more and more and more stories came out, even before RUreference list hit the fan.
We knew what he’d done. Why his name was on the list. Why so many names were on the list, but still not enough. And while we were shot at, pepper sprayed, and terrorised for protesting against r*pe culture, he used his language and position to manipulate people
Once the progressive, shiny man of the journ department and the silent protest, he shifted the convo to “people have an axe to grind”. Articles, poems, posts, all of it have been written about him. He was one of the most well known names on the list.
He lost his job, he went low-key, but people don’t forget.
