~The Clashing Dreams and Burdens of Kiyoharu Togawa~

REAL Spoilers
At the start of the series Togawa has recently quit playing basketball. With Yama no longer able to play, and Tora in America, Togawa gets frustrated by the lack of effort and desire from the Tigers and quits.
However after meeting someone who shares his passion for basketball (Nomiya) and coming across someone he can’t beat (Nagano), he wants to return to keep playing and decides to return to the Tigers.
But when Togawa comes back to the team, he does it with the intention of being the best. He is prepared to carry the team to victory even if he has to do it alone. Togawa is playing with the Tigers because he wants to honor his heros Tora and Yama.
He wants Yama to see the Tigers win before he passes away. He owes Yama so much and he feels this is all he can do. However, his dedication to winning with the Tigers prevents him from being as good as he can be.
Instead of getting closer to his goal of playing in the paralympics, he has to carry the extra weight of the Tigers. Togawa is stuck between wanting to honor his heroes by winning with the Tigers, and pursuing his dream of beating the best.
He is burdened by the Tigers, and feels the weight of the team on his shoulders. But his teammates are not willing passengers, and this leads to conflict within the team.
Togawa is incredibly harsh with his teammates, demanding more and more from them as he grows more and more impatient with the Tigers progress. A wedge forms between him and the other Tigers players several times and the team is constantly on the edge of falling apart.
While at A-camp Togawa says he wants to go as far as possible, as fast as he can. Togawa is in a hurry to be the best. The reason we see Togawa pushing himself so hard to win as soon as possible is because he fears Yama’s time is almost up.
When Togawa is asked if he enjoys basketball, he says “I don't LIKE that kind of thing”. Togawa has lost sight of why he originally played sports. When he ran track, he ran because he had a love and passion that drove him to compete to the best of his ability.
However his reasons for playing on the Tigers are different. He is trying to be the best, but is trying to make the Tigers the best because he feels he owes Yama. He is playing basketball not out of passion, but out of duty.
This difference is what is keeping him from enjoying basketball. During the second day of A-Camp, Azumi says that the light has faded from his eyes again. Togawa has come face to face with ‘the same old wall’ that always has stopped him, his teammates.
One of his A-camp teammates asks him why he doesn't run paralympic track instead of basketball. He is frustrated with his teammates, and they are frustrated with him, why not compete in an individual event?
Togawa is troubled with several issues during A-Camp. He is nervous that the Tigers won’t win soon enough for Yama to see, he is questioning why he plays a team sport like basketball, and he no longer enjoys the game of basketball.
He is playing purely out of obligation to Yama and Tora. However, Tora sends him a message, saying ``The Sky’s the Limit”. This message communicates so much to Togawa. Tora is reminding him why he plays sports. He does it out of passion, and shouldn't do it for any other reason.
Tora is freeing him from the burden of the Tigers and telling him to fly as high as he can. Togawa is once again saved by Tora and remembers why he plays a team sport.
When he felt most alone, they came to him and brought him out of his depression with basketball. He is playing a team sport because his teammates are what saved him before, and again.
Togawa returns to A-camp to play basketball the way he was always meant too. Thanks to Tora’s message, and A-camp, Togawa learned why he competes, what it means to be a true teammate, and he leaves the Tigers.
This a massive step forward for Togawa. He has found his old passion for sports, freed himself of the responsibility of winning with the Tigers for Yama’s sake, and he is finally able to wholeheartedly pursue his dreams of standing at the center of the podium.
He is finally able to do what he lost in a race so many years ago. The sky is the Limit for Togawa, and he no longer is planning to go alone.
And I didnt even touch on the guilt he feels towards the Tigers, his love for Azumi, or the best backstory in animanga history. Thank you for reading.
