🚨🚨 #Bears Mock draft 1.3🚨🚨

Disclaimer. All of my early offseason mocks (1.0s) is not what I think or want to happen, just what could happen. Each one is built different to show options and provoke thought and conversation. Here’s a hint on this build....

THREAD BELOW⬇️⬇️⬇️
**The Trade**

To CHI—D. Watson.
To HOU— (picks)2021: 1st, 2nd, 3rd 2022: 1st, 2nd. 2023 1st, 3rd.

We can argue value all day but this is ballpark cost. It’ll cost much more than the Mack deal. A kings ransom over 3 years that still allows the Bears some flexibility.
**Additional Trade**

To BUF: R. Smith
To Chi: 2021 1st 2022 2nd, 5th.

Unpopular, I know. Idea is that cashing out on Quan to recoup some of the massive draft capital loss. With DW newly added 40M/AAV in 22 it’s not feasible to add another mega deal when he needs a ext in 22/23
**Last Trade**
To CLE:A. Hicks
To CHI: 2021 5th.

Same principle as Smith. Recoup some of the massive lost picks and clear 10M off the books to build around Watson. Getting Watson means fans have to be okay with cashing out defensive value to flip to offense and/or picks.
**CUTS/EXTS/ECT**

Cuts—Massie, Skrine, Graham. Aprox 28 saved.

EXT—Fuller. 2 additional years. 8M saved in 21 (signing bonus)

Restructure—K. Mack. (Move 7M from 21 spread into remainder of deal)

Total 21 savings comes out to over 40M. Keep in mind Watson’s 21 hit is only 10M
Resign/FA

Arob-4y/74 M.
Gipson-2/5
Santos-3/13
Ifedi-2/9
Others under 2M AAV—O’Donnell, Spriggs, Bush, Carson, Bars, Woods, Jenkins, Holtz, Urban

Allow to walk(notable) —Mitch, RRH, CP.

*FA*

Darryl Williams (OT)-3/27M
Nick Morrow (ILB)-2/12
Pharroh Brown (TE)-2/5
Draft.

1(BUF)-Sam Cosmi-OT, TEX
4-Trevon Grimes-WR, UF
5-Sam Ehlinger- QB, TEX
5(CLE)-Monty Rice-ILB, UGA
6-Caleb Jones-OT, IU
7-Brendan Knox-RB, MAR
UDFA-Ben Jones-FB, UM

Cosmi is raw but tons of upside. Will push for both starting spots. Grimes is a 6’5 guy with 4.5 speed..
...and can be another tool in the box for Watson. Rice is a depth/dev guy in a now thin positions. Sam as dev QB. Jones is another dev OT because if we get Watson we need to actually block for him. Knox gives us a true spell/short yardage back. Jones allows flexibility in sets.
Projected Offense
QB-Watson/Ehlinger/Foles
HB-Monty/Cohen/Knox
FB/H-Mason
WR-Arob/Mooney/Grimes/Miller
TE-Kmet/Brown/Holtz
LT-Leno/Cosmi/Spriggs (depending on RT)
LG-Whitehair/Bars
C-Musty/Bars
RG-Daniels/Bars
RT-Cosmi/Ifedi/Spriggs (Ifedi RT1 if Cosmi is LT1)
Projected Defense

NT-Goldman
DE-Nichols/Urban/Edwards
Edge-Mack/Quinn/Gipson
ILB-Trev/Morrow/Rice
CB-Fuller/JJ/Vildor/Shelly
SS-Gipson/Bush
FS-Ejax/Bush
*Final Thoughts*

Again, not what necessarily think or want to happen. Just tried to lay out a scenario where Watson is a Bear. As you can see that kind of investment means shifting what’s left of the resources into building around him. Yes, the D has holes but that’s just...
..how it would have to be if we land Watson. It will mandate a shift to an offensive focus team that has a defense that relies on a few big players at key spots to take the ball away. That’s how modern teams should be built IMO. If ya made it this far, thanks I appreciate it!
