Particularly this. "Experts" have usually only mastered a few relatively basic concepts. What elevates them to expert status is their prestige, which is all the media is interested in. Thus impenetrable groupthinks are born. https://twitter.com/clairlemon/status/1354953005372559363
This applies especially to the trade fraternity on Twitter. All of whom are remainers, all churning over the same narrow set of simplistic talking points from the same handful of sources, and they cannot cope with others treading on their territory.
What amuses me most is that the actual leaders in the field and the original thinkers are usually *not* on Twitter. Expert status has become a Twitter popularity contest. Any journalists quoting Twitter "experts" forfeits all of their credibility.
The truth of the matter, be it Covid, Brexit, whatever, they are broad issues that cast a different reflection when viewed from a different angle. If you're looking at it from a narrow perspective, you'll never get close to understanding.
Those who insist we only listen to prestigious opinions are those attempting to discourage you from thinking and straying from their narrative.
