tonight we conducted our ninth roundtable as a part of "A Crest for All Chicago" so I thought I'd share a few notes and learnings on the dialogue with fans and supporters so far

🧵 a short-ish thread 🧵

#cf97 #cffc
we've got seven additional roundtables planned for the next two weeks - where we'll speak to additional supporters and STHs, advisory council members and select fans who have submitted via the web form at http://chicagofirefc.com/crest
we knew when we began this project that we wouldn't be able to conduct a roundtable with every person who wanted to participate – unfortunately, it's just not possible

(nor would it be helpful to the actual work itself but that is, perhaps, a different thread)
with that in mind, we've tried to be thoughtful about creating multiple opportunities for fans and supporters to share their thoughts

the three main pillars for soliciting input are:
• web form submission (1,200 and counting)
• roundtables
• in-depth survey (coming soon)
quick aside: because not everyone will be able to participate in the roundtables, we're making plans to bring it to life across our social channels

we're targeting the week of Feb. 8 for that mini-campaign so keep an eye on  @ChicagoFire
this entire series of activities - and really the entire project - is not about elevating any *one* voice

it's not even about elevating any one group of voices

it's about bringing voice to the collective - and ensuring anyone who wants to add their voice can do so
it's about the been-here-since-97 fans

it's about the thrilled-we're-now-at-Soldier fans

it's about the season-ticket-holder-every-year fans

it's about the Blanco-brought-me-in fans
it's about the I'm-not-a-fan-I'm-a-supporter supporters

it's about the brand-new fans

it's about the I-come-with-my-youth-team-a-few-times-a-year fans

it's about the Basti-brought-me-in fans

it’s about the love-to-come-with-my-friends fans
it's about each of those groups because it's about ALL fans and ALL supporters

when we started this project, we made a promise to read EVERY word (and we have)
when you ask *everyone* to participate, you have to believe there's power in the collective voice - and we do

and I can tell you with confidence that recurring themes, ideas, and inspiration, are bubbling up
this is perhaps as good a time as any to say: We're not going to please everyone. It's not possible.

while there are certainly recurring themes, there are also hundreds of disparate ideas about what the crest should be
at a high-level what we've heard so far is:
• create something that represents our club's history [tradition]
• create something that visually represents Chicago [honor]
• create something that I'll be proud to wear [passion]
the end result very likely won't be exactly what you'd create

but our hope is that when you see the crest, you'll see something of your club, your city, and yourself in it

and you'll be able to wear it with pride
ultimately, this project is about much more than the crest

it's about building a club for all Chicago

where all who share our values are welcome

where every voice matters
where we can (eventually!) gather on the lakefront in the most beautiful city in the world to watch the game we love

where we can celebrate all that is Chicago, together
