Ironic that the president who will go down in memory for his walls turns out to be Biden. Clinton—with his lasting architectural legacy of bollards—looks like a lightweight in comparison. I am usually in favor of walls, but they have to be beautiful and enhance what they protect. https://twitter.com/MacFarlaneNews/status/1354871296664993795
The correct way of doing this, if it must be done at all, is not to "fence" or wall the White House alone, but to build a beautiful stone or rammed earth city wall around D.C., or at least a larger area of at least dozens of acres, and to make it so beautiful people will love it.
Maybe the best book on the history of walls is David Frye's. Well worth a read, spans all of human history, from Mesopotamia to Beverly Hills. https://twitter.com/wrathofgnon/status/1054165561460981761?s=20
