Ok. Valentine’s Day Thread. Here’s everything you need to know when ordering flowers.

NEVER buy them online unless it’s from an actual brick and mortar florists shop.
1-800-FLOWERS, proflowers, teleflora, all those places have a wire service fee, that ends up coming out of the cost of your arrangement.

So if you pay $99 for a bouquet of Roses and lilies, you’ll only get around $40 worth of flowers after the fees and the vase.
This is why what you ordered looks nothing like the picture.
This can all be avoided by calling a florist directly and placing your order that way. You get you moneys worth, and the shop can actually make money instead of losing it to big brother (the wire service)
Due to demand around Valentine’s Day, Roses double in price come February 1st. So if you want something simple and pretty that won’t break the bank, ask for daisies, carnations, or basically anything that’s not a rose.
On the other hand, if you want to break the bank and really wow your girl, premium long stem roses are great, OR go the tropical route.
Another pro tip, as a florist myself, I’m always more generous with flowers on the arrangements that have very sweet enclosure cards. YES WE READ THEM. So plz keep them relatively PG lol
Also, forgot to add that flower shops give their actual customers priority. I.e ppl who called them directly and placed an order. So if you waited last minute and ordered something from 1-800-flowers, or another wire service, you’ll get bottom of the barrel flowers.
