It's time to tell a story about an investing project that I helped my MBA professor with 2 years ago
Remember the money banks were investing into private prisons? I had to research that.
I helped my professor locate holdings. She purchased a set of stocks with activist investors.
This is a form of shareholder activism. Their actions forced the governence boards to divest from the private prison investments.
The recent decision to pull out of gun stocks was done by these nuns. https://www.masslive.com/business-news/2018/09/investor_activists_nuns_demand_smith_wes.html
If you want to learn how to do this, you can take this course from Coursera. https://www.coursera.org/lecture/wharton-social-impact/introduction-to-impact-investing-IcZhW
Btw, this is why I'm annoyed with BLM. They have the funds to do this work, but won't.
