There's a lot of people clamoring for answers and accountability, but there's no quick or easy resolution to what's happening inside the NWHL right now.
A string of tweets forced a referendum on Barstool and exposed deep divisions on race and justice that I think exist across all of hockey. When asked to really step up, some players showed where they really stand.
This is not something the NWHL or any league can fix or legislate against. They can not mandate that players not talk to certain media outlets. That's not up to them, nor should it be.
All the talk of unity falls apart when people are confronted with everyday racism, because they don't want to see it. One of the BS hosts said they weren't 'burning crosses and tying nooses' and that's how many see it. As long as it's that obvious, it must not exist.
You can't make people do the listening and learning overnight. The league and players can only push for conversations. Like the NHL, this is just baked into the sport. The curtain just got pulled back hard.
