The past two days of #Ship30for30 office hours with @khemaridh and @stewfortier were awesome.
Seriously grateful to @dickiebush and @nicolascole77 for hosting these sessions.
Here are 8 quick lessons about content creation from these two creators

Here are 8 quick lessons about content creation from these two creators

(1) Early on, monetization should be indirect...
Using writing to make internet income does not necessitate making money directly from your words.
For early creators, paywalls for content can do more harm than good.
Consulting, courses, and products can make more sense

(2) Test ideas in small ways, blow up what works based on feedback...
Brand new ideas should not be the basis of long form content.
Validate ideas with real conversations, twitter threads, or newsletter bites before investing hours into them.

(3) Don't fetishize tools and software...
What matters is production and publishing.
This is classic busyness vs productivity.
What matters is shipping good work, not which apps you use behind the scenes

(4) Community matters every step of the way...
Connect with your readers. Seek advice from those ahead of you. Be helpful to those a few steps behind you.

(5) Write into a void...
When you are brand new to publishing content, enjoy the fact that nobody is reading it.

(5) Don't write into a void..
Every funnel needs a front-end.
Don't expect organic traffic on your personal site for a looong time.
Ride momentum on another platform (YouTube, Twitter, Medium, Quora, etc)
People have to find you somewhere. Jump into existing congregations.

(6) Prioritize emotional resonance...
Your readers are giving you 10% of their attention at best.
If your writing isn't emotionally charged, it's not going to resonate. Be authentic, people can sniff a phony with 0-effort.

(7) Don't sleep
on copywriting...
Headlines matter! Thumbnails matter!
Brainstorm 10-15 headline ideas for any serious content

(8) Get Coaching...
Most of us aren't good at diagnosing our problems and bottlenecks. Coaches are good at this. That's a formula for rapid progress.
