Was talking about Zenos and potential hobbies on Discord and started thinking about what job he'd take up if he was a crafter. It starts as a necessity - he wants to repair his armour and sharpen his blades. But he's no blacksmith
The Warrior of Light though, spends a lot of their free time creating. Making things for people desperately in need. But aside from that, they create little mementos for themself, too. Little wood carvings related to important events, creatures, and people.
This piques Zenos' interest. He doesn't understand the appeal of such frivolous things. But in an effort to better understand them, he works to expand his knowledge of metalwork. Starting with smithing his own blades and making greater repairs. But still, it's not the same.
He studies them as they work, delicate, practiced fingers working away. He watches as they work impressive detail into their tiny sculptures, and decides to work on a smaller scale. His hands are large, but his hold on his tools is steady.
He shifts from crafting wicked blades to carving out intricate clockwork. His workspace is cluttered, and he doesn't let the WoL approach. Once they're gone, he removes one of their trophies; a beautiful carving of an enormous wyrm, and he brings it over to the bench.
He carefully turns it over in his hands, admiring just how impressive the work is. And then he begins to saw at it. Drilling it, and breaking it apart. It lies in pieces. Careful not to fumble them, he begins placing tiny gears inside the hollowed out interior.
By the time he's finished, light begins to filter in through the curtains. Zenos lays his head on the desk, succumbing to sleep, long before the Warrior wakes.

By his side, they find a small, hinged box. It bursts open - a mechanical, wooden mammet coiling out.
They stare at it, awed, as it clambers about. It's their carving, no doubt about it, but every joint is segmented, its jaws hinged, and wings articulated.

A reminder of when they were closest, brought to life by their fascination with the other, and their mutual respect.
