Super Bowl 35 was 20 years ago today. I figured I would regale you sumbitches with the tale of where I was that night. You lucky bastards.

Thread...
I'm old enough to have been devastated when the Colts left, convinced we'd never get an NFL team here after we got hosed in the expansion slap n' tickle. JKC & Tagliabue weren't gonna let it happen even after we sold out Memorial in minutes for a preseason game between NO & MIA.
Like a lot of Baltimore football fans I hated how we got a team but it was tempered by CLE getting to keep the name & records and by the fact that in order to drop their lawsuit CLE agreed they would get a team by expansion OR RELOCATION by 1999.
In 2000 I was in my late 20s, living & working in Fells Point. I had plans to go to a buddy's house to watch the Denver game but he called me that morning, sick as a dog. So I stayed in & ordered pizza from a local place I liked.
After we won I realized I had to do the same thing the next week (I'm not superstitious but I am regular stitious). Well I wound up doing it 3 more times.
After the game was over I heard an explosion of life in the streets. The entire neighborhood had been holding its breath and now it could exhale. I wandered down to the bars, heading to the one where I worked & drank: The Admiral's Cup (it ain't like it was then anymore, sadly).
Fells Point had become its own little French Quarter. People were walking around drinking as they wandered from bar to bar, joints & bowls were passed around freely, and the police just watched. They basically blocked off the drinking district & let us party.
The Cup being right in the heard of Fells WJZ & WMAR set up right outside our place. I was on TV probably half a dozen times that night as local reporters asked me how I was feeling. I still owe WJZ an apology for saying "FUCKING GREAT!". Even though I'm not sorry.
I think I wandered home some time around 5:30 or 6, stopping at Sip & Bite on the way to get a scrapple, egg, and cheese sub and a container of home fries to soak up some of the booze.
To this day, whatever I wind up doing during the 1st playoff game I repeat until we either win it all or get eliminated. Same thing for the O's.
That's it. That's my story. Not that anyone gives a damn about a middle aged guy pretending to be a ghost. But I felt like telling it anyway.
