HOW THE GAMESTOP STOCK SITUATION PERTAINS TO TRULY INDEPENDENT FILMMAKING VS. HOLLYWOOD, A THREAD:
"True revolution comes from true revulsion; when things get bad enough the kitten will kill the lion.”

What we have seen over the past few days with Gamestop stock is but one instance of many in recent history where the kitten is killing the lion.
I am one of the most prominent filmmakers of what is known as the truly independent film movement—movies made completely outside of the studio system, often for impossibly low budgets, yet do not suffer for it. These are not home movies, these are not amateur—these are cinema.
My feature-length film RAMEKIN, to name just one, made for $500, was the lowest budget feature-length film ever to be an official recommendation on Amazon Prime Video. Users were being recommended it right alongside movies with budgets 10,000x ours. This was a milestone.
Despite this, there has been a near total media blackout on the truly independent film revolution. Our films are popular entirely through word of mouth—we cannot afford advertising, after all. The people learn of us slowly, but gladly. What we are doing is system-shattering.
People are just as happy watching a competently-made $500 budget horror movie as they are watching one for $5,000,000. This kills the lion. The entire system of Hollywood was built under the assumption that we can't exist. We are an impossibility. And we are here to stay.
We will outlast Hollywood, which s a dinosaur. Even while we true filmmakers are flat broke, we can still always rub two sticks together and make a movie—our talent enables this, just like a great guitarist can pick up a crappy guitar and still get a rockin sound out of it.
What I have been seeing the past few days with gamestop stock and wallstreetbets, I relate to, as so many do—it is truly the people vs the machine. We are that. So many things are that these days. And so many more will be too.
Yall have 'meme stocks'. We have horror movies about ramekins and giant blurry fingers that some say are the best movies they've seen all year. Much like so many would rather watch youtube than TV, so many will watch great truly independent films rather than Hollywood garbage.
We must fight on all fronts against the machine in all its forms. I don't know anything about stocks, but I am in solidarity with those who do who are fighting against corruption in their own way, as they should be with me.
The People are all in this together—left, right, socialist, libertarian, it doesn't matter anymore. Common enemies, strange bedfellows and all that. We have the power. They will cheat against us. The game is rigged. But we will outlast them. In all instance we will HOLD THE LINE.
If you would like to find out more about what I am doing, go to http://killthelionfilms.com  and learn more. Consider supporting us through $2 per month. If enough people do that, we will be fully funded all on minuscule 'vote with your dollar' contributions. This kills the Hollywood.
